The Federation Council has people whose past is in doubt. For example, Senator from Chechnya Suleiman Geremeyev. When, in the study of the “Panama archive”, it turned out that Geremeyev owned offshores in the Virgin Islands, the “New Gazeta” wrote that there were not many known about his past to the Federation Council in 2011. Geremeyev - a longtime ally of the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov. He took place as a witness in the case of the murder of Ruslan Yamadayev , shot in Moscow in September 2008. “We have information that Geremeyev could communicate with the persons detained for the murder of Ruslan Yamadayev, in connection with which questions arose to him,” Rosbalt quoted his unnamed interlocutor in the investigative committee. The lawyer of relatives of Boris Nemtsov Vadim Prokhorov suggested that Geremeyev got into the Federation Council precisely because of Yamadayev’s case-for the inviolability laid down by parliament members. The name of Suleiman Geremeyev was also mentioned in connection with the murder of Nemtsov - he was his uncle former serviceman Ruslan Geremeyev, who was considered a possible organizer of the crime. The Federation Council has at least one person whose name is mentioned in connection with two murders. This alone refutes the statement of Matvienko about the absence of senators with a “dubious past”. In addition, one can recall the case of another senator - Suleiman Kerimov, who, more recently, was under the subscription about the loss of the departure in France, where he was accused of tax evasion of hundreds of millions of euros. The charges were subsequently withdrawn .
