Hungary has put up for auction all its MiG-29 fighters. Price of 19 aircraft - 10 million dollars

The Hungarian authorities have put up for sale at auction all the MiG-29s on the balance sheet of the Ministry of Defense.

The single lot includes 19 aircraft, many of which require overhaul, 20 engines and 293 other items (including spare parts and built-in weapons). The initial price of the lot is 2.8 billion forints ($10 million).

After a buyer is found, the sale will have to be approved by the Russian authorities.

• Hungary received 28 MiG-29s from Russia in 1993 as payment for a Soviet debt. After joining NATO, Budapest began to gradually replace Russian fighters with Swedish ones; since 2010, MiG-29s have almost completely stopped flying.
• The Hungarian authorities have already announced the partial sale of existing MiG-29s in 2013 and 2017 .
• The cost of one new MiG-29 is now about $25 million.
