The general director of the Tretyakov Gallery received a reprimand from the Ministry of Culture after the theft of a Kuindzhi painting

The Ministry of Culture issued a reprimand to the general director of the Tretyakov Gallery, Zelfira Tregulova, because of the theft of the painting by the artist Arkhip Kuindzhi “Ai-Petri. Crimea". It is reported by RBC.

The Ministry of Culture came to the conclusion that the theft of the painting occurred "as a result of the uncoordinated actions of the museum's structural divisions." It was also revealed that the management and employees of the Tretyakov Gallery did not fulfill their official duties, they did not take measures to ensure the safety of the exhibits.

The Ministry of Culture recommends that disciplinary sanctions be applied to some museum employees, for example, to dismiss the head of the security service.

A painting by Arkhip Kuindzhi “Ai-Petri. Crimea” was stolen on January 27 from the Engineering Corps of the Tretyakov Gallery. Surveillance cameras recorded how a man in dark clothes examined the picture, and then removed it from the wall and slowly disappeared, while other visitors were in the hall.

Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, together with the FSB, detained a suspect in the theft of a painting by Denis Chuprikov in the village of Zarechye, Moscow Region. He hid the painting in the basement on the territory of a house under construction in the Odintsovo district.

The Tagansky Court of Moscow arrested Chuprikov for two months. The man is accused of “stealing items of special value” (paragraph “a” of part 2 of article 164 of the Criminal Code), the article provides for up to 15 years in prison.
