The British media regulator announced possible sanctions against NTV-Mir Baltia

The British media regulator Ofcom allowed the introduction of restrictions against the NTV Mir Baltic and NTV Mir Lithuania channels. This is stated on the website of the regulator.

The reason given is the violation of the principle of impartiality in covering the poisoning of former GRU colonel Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia. In particular, in the program "Today" on April 2, 2018, during which the inscription appeared at the bottom of the screen: "Sources in the media: the theory of poisoned buckwheat was mentioned in the Skripal case."

Ofcom clarified that since 2014 "this is the sixth case of violation of the principle of impartiality."

Earlier, Ofcom found the Russian TV channel Russia Today guilty of violating the rules of non-compliance with the principle of impartiality and objectivity, which could lead to the revocation of RT's license to broadcast in the country or a fine.

In case decisions, RT journalists are condemned for expressing doubts about the position of the British government about Russia's responsibility for the poisoning of the Skripals, as well as for failing to communicate its position. In addition to the events in Salisbury, the channel was also condemned for broadcasts about the military conflict in Syria and a story about nationalists in Ukraine.
