Directors Nikita Mikhalkov and Andrei Konchalovsky have found a partner for their vending business - they will install vending machines with food and drinks together with Siman Povarenkin, co-owner of Shokoladnitsa, found out . Kommersant
Detailed. The vending business of the Mikhalkovs will be developed by the Mobile Technologies of Trade company, founded in January of this year. It is 67.5% owned by Akmero Retail LLC, co-owner of Shokoladnitsa Siman Povarenkin . Another 20% belongs to Kamvending LLC, 45% each of which belongs to Mikhalkov and Konchalovsky, and the remaining 10% belongs to the general director of the Mikhalkov 12 charity fund, Yulia Stankunas. The third founder of the company with 12.65% is Andrei Reznik Financial and Consulting Group LLC (owns 12.5%).
- Siman Povarenkin is a former top manager and co-owner of the Industrial Investors group of billionaire Sergei Generalov. Its main asset is the GeoProMining mining company, which develops deposits of gold and other precious and non-ferrous metals in Russia and Armenia. In 2015, Povarenkin became the owner of a 40% stake in Shokoladnitsa.
- Mikhalkov and Konchalovsky launched a vending business in the fall of 2018. Now MTT manages about a dozen vending machines with food and drinks from the Italian brand Saeco, which are installed in Moscow universities and stadiums, the company's CEO Roman Reznik told Kommersant. The company plans to install machines throughout the country and increase their number to several thousand, he said. Kommersant failed to get comments from Acmero Capital and representatives of Mikhalkov and Konchalovsky.
- Installing a thousand machines can cost MTT up to 350 million rubles, Vadim Shilenko, general director of the Megas vending operator, believes, estimating the cost of one Saeco machine at 300-350 thousand rubles. According to him, this is a profitable business, but its profitability is declining every year. This year, the increase in VAT, which caused food suppliers to raise prices by 2-5%, was especially influential.
Context. The volume of the Russian vending market last year grew by 10.7%, to 37.2 billion rubles, according to data from Euromonitor International. According to their forecasts, in 2019 the turnover of this market will increase by 4.4%, to 38.8 billion rubles. Now the market leader is Uvenco, owned by former slot machine manufacturer Boris Belotserkovsky, with more than 13,000 machines under its management.
- The vending business is becoming popular among inexperienced investors, Kommersant notes. At the end of 2018, the Vkusvill network, together with Coffee House, announced that it was going to install 96 vending machines at the stations of the Moscow Central Circle.
- MTT owners also do business in industries related to vending. Acmero Capital owns 40% of Shokoladnitsa Group of Companies (also includes Coffee House chains, Wabi Sabi Japanese restaurants), and Konchalovsky owns 35% of Edim Doma Retail LLC (owns the Edim Doma chain of stores).
- Konchalovsky and Mikhalkov tried in 2015 to open a chain of fast food restaurants Eat at Home, asking President Vladimir Putin for almost 1 billion rubles to launch it, but the plans never came to fruition.
