The Sochi city prosecutor's office, together with the FSB, identified and brought to justice a Sochi resident who preaches Buddhism.
During the inspection, it was established that a 32-year-old local resident carried out missionary activities in a non-residential building in the Khostinsky district without permits on behalf of the “Centralized religious organization Russian Academy of Diamond Way Buddhists of the Karma Kagyu Tradition,” reports the press service of the prosecutor’s office of the Krasnodar region.
A case of administrative offense was initiated against the man under Part 4 of Art. 5.26 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (violation of the requirements of legislation on freedom of conscience, religion and religious associations). The court found the Sochi resident guilty and sentenced him to a fine of 5 thousand rubles.
“There are no illegal missionary activities being carried out at this time. Supervisory work in this direction continues,” the prosecutor’s office reported.
