Operators warned of disrupting the execution of the Yarovaya Law when using domestic equipment

The proposal of the Ministry of Communications to use only domestic equipment for the implementation of the Yarovaya Law will lead to a breakdown of the fulfillment of obligations that will be imposed on communication operators, follows from the reviews of MTS and Rostelecom, writes RBC.

So, MTS in his recall notes that the fulfillment of the requirements of the Ministry of Communications “will lead to the suspension of the work of the operation of the implementation of systems already leading by operators” aimed at the implementation of the “Yarovaya Law”. In addition, companies will have to spend time on research and testing of domestic equipment, "which is ultimately hello to disrupting current plans for the implementation of the law."

MTS also believes that the sealing of foreign companies from the list of suppliers will entail the monopolization of the market and price overstatement. As a result, the cost of services may increase for the population.

In its recall, Rostelecom draws attention to the fact that according to Russian law, a ban or restriction of the use of foreign goods can only be applied to public procurement, while there are many private companies among operators.

According to the “Yarovoy Law”, which entered into force on July 1, 2018, the organizers of the dissemination of information are required to store negotiations and text messages of users within six months, and online messages-within 30 days, and if the request is requested, transfer data to the special services. Experts estimated the expenses for the execution of amendments to the legislation in billions of rubles. At the beginning of 2019, the Ministry of Communications proposed to oblige operators of communication to store data on domestic equipment.
