The Japanese restaurant chain Tanuki published an advertising poster on its Facebook page by February 14, which was immediately noticed by users, and the founder of DoDo Pizza, Fyodor Ovchinnikov, devoted a whole post to this and announced a flash mob.
More. On the Tanuki poster, next to a photo of a fat girl, it says “After going to Gogo Pizza,” and next to a photo of a girl of model appearance in a tight dress with a decollete: “After going to Tanuki.”
Reaction. The founder of DoDo Pizza noticed a hint at his network and wrote a long post on his Facebook page about how he built a business, struggled with excess weight, which had nothing to do with pizza, and that he does not like this ad because it humiliates overweight people . At the end, he urged everyone to join the flash mob #lovepizza - order pizza (any) and post photos.

Facebook users were outraged not only by discrimination against overweight people, but also by the fact that in a negative context of “overweight” a photo of the heroine of the American show My Big Fabulous Life on TLC Whitney Thor, who suffers from polycystic ovaries, was used.
Who came up with the ad. Andrey Frolchenkov, a smm-man, is called the author of advertising in social networks, who from today is responsible for the promotion of Tanuki in social networks and the creative of the company. The day before, he announced the start of work on the network on his Facebook page with the words: “I traded my independence for the opportunity to make hype content and good conditions for growth.” He did not comment on the situation to The Bell, explaining that he was busy.
The Tanuki apologized. After receiving a flurry of negative comments, the post was removed from the network account. Instead, an apology appeared “for inappropriate creativity” with an explanation that the creator of the advertisement “wanted to be provocative, but the sense of proportion left.” The apology post ends with the phrase: “We won’t do it again.” Later, Andrei Frolchenkov wrote on his Facebook page that he did not know that Whitney Thor was in the photo.
