Europe abandoned the SSJ100 aircraft

The Irish airline CityJet, which leased seven SSJ100 aircraft in 2016-2017, has abandoned their operation. According to Vedomosti , CityJet was the only European operator of the Russian aircraft.

In total, about 180 SSJ100s have been produced since 2011. The vast majority flies in Russia. CityJet signed a contract for the supply of 16 SSJ100s with an option for another 15 at the end of 2015. It was assumed that the Russian aircraft would replace the older Avro RJ85s, which are on average 20 years old, in its fleet. But Brussels Airlines refused to further lease the SSJ100 from CityJet, as due to a lack of spare parts the planes were idle for too long. For the same reason, SSJ100 show low flight hours in Russia, the newspaper notes - 3.3 hours per day on average for each ship in 2017, versus almost 10 hours for medium-haul Airbus and Boeing.
