Andrey Nechaev: Rosstat will fight poverty

Poverty in Russia should be halved by 2024. I'm afraid that the main burden of implementing the decree will fall on Rosstat

According to the decree of President Putin "On the national goals and strategic objectives of the development of the Russian Federation for the period up to 2024" dated May 7, 2018, poverty in Russia should be halved by 2024.

So far we have the following.

As Deputy Prime Minister for Social Affairs Tatyana Golikova stated during the Sochi Forum, the number of Russians living below the poverty line increased by 3.9 million people from 2012 to 2017.

“In 1999, the absolute number of Russians living below the poverty line was 41.6 million (28.4%). More or less the situation changed by 2007, when the number of citizens living below the poverty line amounted to 18.8 million people. And the most successful year for the Russian Federation in recent history was 2012, when the number of poor people was 15.4 million, which is 10.7% of the total. Now the baseline poverty level, from which we start, moving towards the implementation of the national goal, is 19.3 million people, or 13.2%, this is the data of 2017,” she said.
At the same time, the poorest region of Russia is Tyva. The poverty rate here is 41.5%, Golikova noted.

I'm afraid that the main burden of implementing the decree will fall on Rosstat.
