In Stavropol, programmer Kuleshov was convicted in the case of mathematician Bogatov

On February 6, the Industrial District Court of Stavropol sentenced programmer Vladislav Kuleshov to one and a half years of restriction of freedom on charges of inciting mass riots (Part 3 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code) due to comments on the forum. The man admitted his guilt, and the case was examined in a special manner.

Due to the fact that Kuleshov spent nine months in custody before the court’s decision, which, in accordance with the law on calculating the period of detention in custody, is exactly equivalent to one and a half years of restriction of freedom, he will no longer have to serve this sentence.

Previously, a person involved in this criminal case was mathematician Dmitry Bogatov. He was accused of calling for terrorist activities and preparing to organize mass unrest. The reason was messages on the SysAdmins.ru forum under the nickname “Ayrat Bashirov”, published on the Internet using the Tor node, which Bogatov served as an administrator. One comment talks about the “action on April 2”, the other talks about ways to organize mass unrest.

In January 2018, it became known that the forensic center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs did not find any evidence of Bogatov’s guilt. On May 17,it became known that the criminal case against Bogatov was dropped. On May 21, 33-year-old database administrator of Energomer JSC Vladislav Kuleshov was taken into custody .

The news has been corrected to indicate what the restriction of freedom for Kuleshov should have been, since he had already spent a period in custody equivalent to that due to his sentence.
