
In the Amur Region, two candidates for deputies from the LDPR suspect that they set fire to the administration building in the village of Progress on the night of February 18, Amurskaya Pravda said .
According to the publication, the suspects broke the window in the building and threw a burning car tire into the room. Then they disappeared by car.
The police reported that the suspects were detained quickly. These are local residents 36 and 41 years old. Employees studied traces of shoes and tire protectors, as well as recordings from outdoor surveillance cameras. The police managed to install the car on which the suspects moved.
According to the source, the suspects are in the temporary detention center, they are detained for 48 days. Both are registered candidates for early elections to the village council from the LDPR party.
"The detainees gave a confession. They could not clearly explain the causes of the incident, indicating only that at the time of the crime they were intoxicated," the police said.
A criminal case has been instituted against them under the article "Intentional destruction or damage to property." The maximum punishment for it is five years of imprisonment.
Early elections of deputies of the village of Progress of the Fourth convocation are scheduled for March 3.
