The Krasnoyarsk diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church intends to apply to law enforcement agencies with a request to give a legal assessment of the sale of alcohol in bottles in the form of the Paraskeva Friday chapel. According to TASS, the official representative of the diocese Andrei Skvortsov, the sale caused numerous complaints of believers.
Photos of the Yenisei-Batyushka Lux vodka bottles in the form of a chapel sold in one of the supermarkets, recently appeared on social networks, the Krasnoyarsk television company TCK also reported this.
The bottle is painted and repeats the outlines of the real chapel, and the top is made in the form of a dome and a cross. Alcohol is sold in large networks of supermarkets at a price of 2600 to 4300 rubles, depending on the volume, the Krasnoyarsk News portal reports.
The stone chapel in the name of Paraskeva Friday was built in 1855 at the top of the guard mountain on the site of a dilapidated wooden chapel. It has the status of a local architectural monument and is included in the list of recommended for federal security. The chapel was depicted on 10-rubles, which the Central Bank stopped releasing in 2010.
"Believers turned to us (to the diocese), we cannot ignore their opinion. Now we are preparing an appeal to law enforcement agencies, lawyers will tell us where to get a legal assessment of this fact," Skvortsov said. He added that from a moral point of view, such a marketing course of the manufacturer, when a bottle of alcohol and an Orthodox shrine is combined, can be called bad snop and a "consumer view of faith."
The diocese suggests that from a legal point of view, the release of vodka is not a violation. But from the point of view of moral, priests see excesses in this situation.
“These are two incompatible things: a forty -degree drink and an Orthodox shrine. Moreover, we see that the manufacturer inclines consumers to blasphemy, because in order to open the bottle you need to remove the“ roof ”from the chapel, and there are fragile cross and the dome that can be broken,” the representative of the diocese added.
According to local media, most likely, the manufacturer released such vodka as a souvenir for guests of the Universiade. In the Commander’s retail network, they explained that these products of the Krasnoyarsk Liker-Vodka plant are sold in five chain stores and is in demand in its price segment. “Everyone is accustomed, for example, to Kagor with images of temples on the label, and this is a trial batch of souvenir products stylized by the manufacturer,” the Krasnoyarsk online portal in the holding said.
In May last year, alcohol, decorated with St. George ribbons , appeared in one of the grocery stores of Murmansk: the store employees attached the victory symbols to the bottles of vodka and cognac.
Internet users said that they saw this in stores and in other years, in particular in Samara, as well as that the manufacturer sends ribbons along with the products. The store employees explained that they intend to recall that "ahead of May 9".
