
Today, February 20, at 6 o’clock in the morning, rescuers of Irkutsk reported a fire in a hostel on the Communist Street. More than 500 people had to evacuate, the Ministry of Emergencies reported in the region.
According to the rescue service, the fire began in the room on the fifth floor, and the smoke filled the corridor. By the arrival of firefighters from the windows of the hostel, thick smoke was walking. “Since this five -story building is a hostel, we understood that the smoke immediately filled the common corridor, and people on the top floor could be blocked in their rooms. We had to open and go around each room in smoke and check for people,” said Pavel Belkin, deputy head of the fire extinguishing service of the Ministry of Emergencies.
