A third criminal case was opened against St. Petersburg resident Zlomnov, who spoke about torture.

A criminal case was opened against St. Petersburg resident Pavel Zlomnov, who spoke about torture by FSB officers, for insulting a government official (Article 319 of the Criminal Code). Mediazona reports this from the words of Pavel’s brother Mikhail Zlomnov.

This is the third criminal case against a St. Petersburg resident over the past year. The notification from the Investigative Committee about the initiation of a case states that Zlomnov, while in the investigative office in pre-trial detention center No. 6, insulted FSIN operative Ivan Prozorovsky. In a conversation with Mediazona, Mikhail Zlomnov suggested that we are talking about the events of November 13, 2018, when investigator Shpet decided, without the participation of a defense lawyer, to familiarize his brother with the decision to order a forensic psychiatric examination. Details of the incident are not yet available.

At the end of January, the Lomonosovsky District Court of St. Petersburgarrested Pavel Zlomnov in a criminal case of public justification of terrorism (Part 1 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code). According to investigators from the FSB, Zlomnov, while in a pre-trial detention center, in poetic form called the person who carried out the explosion at the FSB headquarters in Arkhangelsk “a real people’s hero.” According to the lawyers, according to Zlomnov, he did not publicly recite poems dedicated to the events in Arkhangelsk.

Previously, a case was opened against Zlomnov for illegal trafficking in weapons (Article 222 of the Criminal Code), because of which he spent a year in pre-trial detention center No. 6 “Gorelovo”. On January 30, he was released on his own recognizance and immediately detained.

• Pavel Zlomnov was arrested in January 2018 in connection with illegal weapons trafficking. Zlomnov’s relatives told Mediazona that during his arrest, FSB officers “jumped on him, knocked off his kidneys, his head, his arm.” The publication notes that another person involved in the case, Roman Grozdov, also spoke about torture.
• In January 2019, a criminal case was opened against Zlomnov’s lawyers - his brother and father - for insulting an FSB investigator (Article 319 of the Criminal Code) and were removed from the case.
