The park at the mouth of the Smolenka River on Vasilyevsky Island was included in the list of green spacing zones at the plenary meeting of the St. Petersburg parliament, which took place on February 27.
Residents of the Vasileostrovsky district fought to preserve the park for several years. First, they wanted to build the “Song Theater of Alla Pugacheva” there, after the cancellation of the project, they gave them to the construction of apart-hotels. About a thousand inhabitants on September 30, 2018 reached a rally for the preservation and expansion of the park.
At the plenary meeting, deputies unanimously voted to enter the territory on the list of green spaces of public. At the same time, at one of the past meetings, which took place on December 5, 2018, the park at the mouth of Smolenka did not get into the list.
