"You run the whole shift with a kettle, adding shells or bombs to normal, and in the kettle Ipet splashes ..."
The first weapon of mass defeat in the history of mankind is chemical, and the Soviet Union possessed its largest arsenal in the world. True, the very fact that the Soviet army had the Kremlin who officially admitted only in 1987. Judging by the affordable sources, the peak of the production of Soviet chemical weapons fell on the years of World War II, by the end of which there were so many OS in the stalin storehouses that they could be deputied by half the continent: from 1941 to 1945, about 122,500 tons of military poisonous substances were produced in the USSR, including more than 76,800 tons of IPRIT, 11,100 tons of synary Acids, from 7800 to 8300 tons of phosgen, about 6100 tons of Adamsite. Chemical weapons were made throughout the country, but the most important forge of a chemical sword is the Volga region. Including one of the very first enterprises in the country is the chemical plant in Chapaevsk, now designated as the Chapaevsky factory factory. According to the documents of military archives, he passed as plant No. 102.
The very history of the city practically began with this chemical plant. In 1909, in the Samara province, between the villages of Titovka and Gubashevo, they began to build an explosive plant and the village with him, and near them-the railway trip of the Samaro-Zlatoust railway. The trip and the village was named Ivashchenkovo, by the name of the head of the construction of the plant, General Vladimir Ivashchenko. But the explosive factory cannot exist without the most important component for its production - sulfuric acid. The new plant for the manufacture of TNTS required annually up to 200 thousand pounds. In 1911, the main artillery department (GAU) of the Military Ministry of the Russian Empire announced the tender for the supply of acid. The tender won the "Partnership of Chemical Plants P.K. Ushkov and Co." And in May 1912, near the explosive factory, the construction of a new chemical enterprise began, which, like all other enterprises, nationalized in 1918. The village of Ivashchenkovo was at the same time semi -grouped to Trotsk - in honor of the People's Commissar of Trotsky. In 1927, the village received the status of the city and was already quite officially called Trotsk, but not for long: in 1929, after the expulsion of Trotsky from the USSR, Trotsk was renamed Chapaevsk. But even earlier, on May 14, 1923, a secret agreement was signed between the USSR and Germany, according to which the production of poisonous substances, and phosgen was deployed on the basis of the former Ushkov chemical plant in Trotsk, and technological lines were created to refuel the battle shells made here in artillery shells. It was planned to reach the annual capacity of 75 thousand pounds by Ipit, 60 thousand pounds according to Fosgen, and shells should have been equipped with each type of 500 thousand units annually. Some of these products were supposed to go to Germany. To implement the secret agreement on September 30, 1923, a mixed Soviet-German joint-stock company "Bersol" ("Bersol") was established together with Stolzenberg. To cover the secret project of the release of OV, it was stated that Bersol would produce exceptionally peaceful products: sulfuric acid, caustic soda and mineral fertilizers.
The first parties of the OV produced "under the Germans", but already in 1926 the Politburo of the Central Committee of the All -Union Communist Party of Bolsheviks (b) decided that it was time to "tie up" with them: Soviet agents were believed to have already obtained all the necessary documentation in Germany to create its technological lines. And in 1927, agreements with the company of Stolsenberg were torn. The former factory of the merchant Ushkov was first included in the system of the Supreme Council of the National Economy, where he began to be called the State Criminal Product No. 2. In the same 1927, the release of chlorine was established there, then Fosgen, in 1930 the Chapaevsky factory launched a trial part of the Ipate, trial parties were also made in 1932 and 1934, and about the same time they began to put the lines for the production of Luisite. Soon, the secret production, renamed to the plant No. 102, was subordinated first to the People’s Commissariat of the Defense Industry, then to the management of the People's Commissariat of the Chemical Industry.
Only from 1941 to 1945, the Chapaevsky plant No. 102 issued almost 17 thousand tons of OM - this is 13.86% of all chemical weapons produced during the war in the USSR. Including: more than 1542 tons of phosgen and diffusgen (18.58% of the total production in the country), over 10,121 tons of andPatitis (about 13.18% of the total production), 4359 tons of lewisitis (almost 21.5% of all luisitis). And "simultaneously" also over 906 tons of a mixture of and Luisite. Judging by the affordable documentary data, from produced in 1941-1945. 2.6 million 82-mm chemical mines of HM-82 from, which at the Chapaevsky and Stalingrad plants were equipped with and a mixture of and Luisita, most of them were “refined” in Chapaevsk, since since the end of the summer of 1942 and, to a lesser extent, a large part of 1943 was clearly not up to the production of Ep. Also, at the Chapaevsky plant No. 102, chemical bombs and artillery chemical shells produced in the same fighting oat were equipped. In particular, the 122-mm AHS of the UD and DD (filled with and spaces, viscous lewisitis or a mixture of ipit and luisitis, and viscous leiisitis)-648.6 thousand units, and the 152-mm AHS UD and DD (with similar filling)-211.7 thousand units. Also, at this plant, a mixture of and leuisitis was filled with 132 mm MX-13 reactive shells for Katyush (BM-13). According to official figures, 62 employees of the Chapaevsky plant No. 102 were awarded for the release of combat OMs during the war years of Lenin (these data were given in the publication "City of Chapaevsk. Historical and Economic Essay". Kuibyshev, 1988; as well as in the application to the Duma of the City District of Chapaevsk dated December 22, 2016 No. 164.) .

Victims of experiments in publicHowever, with the exception of several people from the directorate, the majority of the gentlemen of the Order of Lenin (as well as other awards) barely survived even until the end of the 1940s-they were all from the workshops, where they actually produced IPRIT, LUIISIT, FOSGEN and equipped with them ammunition ... It was for them, the creators of the Soviet chemical sword, and not at all the enemy, had fully tasted all the “charm” of this. Barbarian weapons, having experienced its striking properties. In 1992, raising archival documents on the development and production of Soviet chemical weapons, the author of these lines arrived in Chapaevsk to talk to the veterans of the chemical weapons factory. Of the few survivors by the 1990s-even in that 1992, when they did not put anyone for the word-only a few agreed to tell how exactly the fact that even some mention in history textbooks were not produced. The elderly, other of whom was eighty, were apprehensive asked: “But they will not put us for this, they will not drag us in the“ Red House ”?”; “No, I won’t say anything-they’ll take it into the“ Red House ”;” ... You, son, don’t print the names, the hour is uneven, these will come from the NKVD, and they will put it in the “Red House”. At our plant during the war, many were taken to the “Red House” for a long tongue, no one returned. ”“ Red House ”was called the NKVD department in the Kuibyshev region in the city of Chapaevsk, then the department of the KGB department, and when he interviewed, the department of the already regional department of the Ministry of Security was already in the“ Red House ”... How would they have been afraid to tell people not only in 1992 not only afraid About their labor exploits of 47 years ago, but also continued to name state security in the old fashioned way-the NKVD.
“I myself am from Leningrad,” said Boris Timofeevich Smirnov , “and I got to Chapaevsk in 1943, after being wounded. When I fell off in the hospitals, I was sent here, they were smeared with promises of good food. Yes, and where was it? I realized that there was no longer back, when I was in the personnel department, I had absolutely all the documents: my passport, military The ticket received a factory, from now on, only he was my identity card, but it was possible to move with him only in Chapaevsk, there were patrols and trains in the city, they were constantly checked. It was (from 1939 to 1942, A. N. Shushkin was the director of the Chapaevsky Plant No. 102, in 1942-1943 - B. M. Barsky, from 1943 to 1947 - I. G. Matveev. - Approx. Author) . -In the closed workshops, they are not in your workshop, as you are immediately raised by: “ Spy , pest!” Or for a long tongue. 25 employees of the factory, and in connection with the cleaning in 1945, the state security agencies were arrested.

For example, in the 51st (the first digit is the number of the workshop, the second-the number of the workshop already) filled the tank with the tank. In the 52nd-they equipped large objects: shells, air bombs. In the 53rd-37-mm and 82-mm caliber mines. So I worked in the 52nd, equipped 122-mm and 152-mm artillery shells, as well as air bombs-25-, 50-, 100-, 250-20 (most likely, this is still a 200-kilogram chemical bomb of the Khab-200.-Approx. Auth.) And 500-kilogram. We worked according to a certain schedule: for two days in a row for six hours, then we rest for three days, every three months - vacation. Then these conditions seemed to us just paradise, we did not even think for a second, which is why it was suddenly at the height of the war - and such benefits. Yes, and the feeding was not bad: they gave milk, it was easy to get hold of alcohol. Only when one comrade suddenly suddenly died, then the other, then it began to reach that all this was here by the reason. I was then the secretary of the Komsomol organization of the workshop, so there was an organization of the funeral on me, I knew something. But to the end, really no one realized the danger. No, of course, they understood that this thing was very poisonous, only after all, everyone believed that he would definitely carry it past him. Yes, and safety precautions seemed to be good. Here we come to the plant, first of all we take off all our clothes in the locker room and - in which the mother gave birth to a physical examination. The nurses will examine, feel: are there any scuffs, scratches, because if what is the wound, it is easier to get a defeat. At first they were shy, then they got used to it - both doctors, and we. However, doctors have long been accustomed, only newcomers were blushed. After a medical examination, they put on official linen: a shirt, pants, footcloths. On top - a protective costume made of impregnated (rubberized) fabric, gas mask. And in the workshop. And after work, everything is in the reverse order: we take off the state linen - it went further for processing, degassed. Before that, the protective costumes were defamed. Then again a physical examination. And in the shower: wash off sweat, possible drops of ours ...
Chapaevsk. The Palace of Culture named after V.I. Chapaeva. 60s
It often happened that you could not stand it and you will throw off the gas mask for a second or two, you will breathe air and again for work
Actually, the work consisted in lifting the shell blade, put it on a special stand and pour it from a special apparatus a strictly measured portion of Iprit - no more and no less. Then a special powder was added to the projectile - a drug that would prevent degassing, an anti -deck. The shell was closed and went to the warehouse. Here I am just a apparatchian and worked. You sit in the cabin, in a gas mask, sweat flows, the glass of the gas mask is fogged, nothing is visible, it is no longer possible to breathe - try to work physically in the heat in a gas mask and a rubberized suit, in boots! But at the same time, you must pour into the shell exactly a portion. As a rule, I still remember, 12 kg of Iprate went on average to ammunition. And it is impossible to remove the gas mask to catch your breath: it soars in the workshop, everywhere and an andpot pairs. Naturally, since we did not realize all the danger, it often happened that you could not stand it and you would throw off the gas mask for a second or two, you will breathe air and again for work. For that time, the devices were precise athletic, but it was almost impossible to pour exactly a measured portion - either underfilling, then overflow. And in the projectile, the weight should not diverge from very rigid standards, otherwise the ballistics changes sharply, and the shell in a real battle will already behave differently. So I had to measure everything with pharmaceutical accuracy: overflowed - you will remove excess excess tool, you underway - you will do it. But since we did not have a special device for issuing small portions, and the device itself was not calculated at the microrimit, it was necessary to add literally from an ordinary kettle! So you run the whole shift with a kettle, adding shells or bombs to normal. In a terrible dream you will not dream: a teapot, in it Ipet splashes!
Honestly, we ourselves did not care about this, and safety precautions violated quite often. But when they brought people from Central Asia (the Soviet name for Central Asia - RS) ... They were also unable to teach them to comply with safety standards, it was especially not clear to them why gas masks were needed. And in Russian they did not know how to speak, they understood with difficulty. So such an Uzbek or Tajik with a kettle is shocking, runs from shell to the shell, and the gas mask dangled on his side ... Those Central Asians died, not one survived, they died every day. The undertaker then worked in three shifts, and indeed in the city cemetery, probably, our guys and girls are lying ... "
Regarding the number of employees of the Chapaevsky plant No. 102, who died from the consequences of poisoning in the production of chemical weapons both during and after the war (as well as before the war), no numbers have officially announced to this day. But some statistics are still available. In 1940, the plant registered 105 cases (including fatal) defeats of workers with military OV; In 1941, at least 280 cases of such lesions; in 1942 - over 1800 cases of lesion with poisonous substances; Only for the first quarter of 1943 - 258 poisoning ... What was then with these struck whether they were cured or not - this information is absent, like further statistics. However, it was fixed and formally formalized, only that it was already impossible to hide, that is, the most egregious cases of defeat and deaths. In the overwhelming majority, people, breathing in vapor vapors, just soon died quietly, maybe even without even having time to consult the doctors. Certificates of their death were issued without any connection with the production of chemical weapons. A considerable part of the affected ones was immediately formalized as those who received an occupational disease and fired, and soon they died, but already as “free” people who had nothing to do with the factory even in the factory statistics of deaths from poisonous substances. And these are thousands of people: in 1942, 1141 people were dismissed from the plant, in 1943 - 1513, in 1944 - 753, in 1945 - 397 people. This is the dismissal from the secret plant, which constantly needed a huge number of working hands in the tributary, from which it was impossible to leave and voluntarily, only if, under the escort or legs, ahead. As noted in the resolution of the State Sanitary Inspectorate of the RSFSR on the sanitary condition of the plant No. 102 of May 18, 1943, the plant management does not register and does not investigate cases of professional fatal poisonings!
See also in search of a training ground. "Ipotnet Lake" in KuzminkiIf we compare the numbers of admission to the plant, its staffing in certain periods, you can identify a huge discrepancy between the data, a huge number of people whose fate is incomprehensible and "unknown": in 1942 there were about 3,500 people, in 1943, more than 3,500 people-with an officially registered and absolutely meager scuffle of deaths-29 people. But at the same time, 2788 people were hired in 1942, and in 1943 another 2848 people, although the average number of plant workers ranged at 2,400 people, sharply falling to this figure from 5080 people in 1942. The hypothesis that they were mobilized to the front, and therefore the number of employees at the plant has sharply reduced, does not withstand the verification with facts. By 1942, everyone who could be mobilized to the front was already sent there, and mainly girls from the surrounding villages and those who were brought from Central Asia worked at the factory.
I only know that sometimes the wind demolished smoke from our pit right onto the city-the plant was in the very center of the city. And some of the shells were simply buried in the factory territory
