From April 6 to 8, at the Moscow School of Music, with the participation of the British and Irish Institute of Modern Music (BIMM), the Selector Pro in the management of musical artists will be held. The event will become part of the program of the year of music of Great Britain and Russia 2019, held by the Department of Culture and Education of the British Embassy in Moscow. The presenter of the seminar will be Graham Jackson, a professional in the international community with rich experience in various fields of musical business, the former head of the Greeting Society of the British Academy of Composers and Basca authors (Basca) . Now Graham is heading a bachelor's course on music business at the BIMM Institute in London, has PGCert in pedagogy, the degree of management in the industry of music and entertainment, as well as a diploma in musical production.
During the course, selected participants will get acquainted with the basics of a profession, which in Russia is only starting to develop. Together with the mentor, they will conduct a critical analysis of the methods of work of the music manager, explore the industry, and also develop a business plan.
On the eve of the start of the course, Graham Jackson formulated five key skills for Colta.ru, which every good manager should master.
Graham Jackson: “The manager must understand the artist’s business model with whom he works, and also navigate the music market. This is necessary to determine the flows of income that are already being operated, as well as those that can be used to be used. ”
Graham Jackson: “It is important for the manager to understand how to conduct a project and manage him in order to build a relationship with the artist and motivate him to achieve career success.”
Graham Jackson: "In addition to understanding the business model of his artist, the manager must be able to evaluate his creative potential in order to determine which area needs creative development."
Graham Jackson: “After determining the strengths and weaknesses of the business model of the musical project and creative potential, the manager must determine the key goals for promoting the artist. As soon as the goals are defined, you can start implementing the plan for their achievement. ”
Graham Jackson: “When formulating and fulfilling the plan compiled for the artist, the manager will have to use his skills in project and financial management. This does not mean that the manager should understand the whole theory of project management or be a gifted accountant, but he needs to have a general idea in order to coordinate plans, launch their implementation, as well as determine potential income and expenses associated with the implementation of the current plan. ”
Registration for the course is open until March 10.
