Facebook will not store data in countries where human rights are violated

On March 6, the founder of the Facebook social network, Mark Zuckerberg, announced that its users will not be placed in countries where human rights are systematically violated.

This is stated in a message published on the blog of Zuckerberg.

He talks about the near future Facebook , highlighting as the main task to ensure the confidentiality of data from users of the social network. In particular, according to Zuckerberg, a through encryption of user messages will be introduced on Facebook .

In the subsection of our message devoted to data storage, the founder of Facebook writes: “People expect that we, in order to prevent illegal access to confidential data, will not store these data in countries where human rights, such as the inviolability of private life and freedom of speech are systematically violated.”

In Russia, in 2015 , the law on personal data entered into force, according to which the personal data of Russians should be stored in the territory of the Russian Federation.

At the end of 2018, Roskomnadzor demanded that Facebook provide information on localizing the databases of Russian users in Russia, and in 2019 he began administrative production against Facebook for violation of the law on personal data.
