Updated . At about 4:00 p.m., the rally ended without incident.

At a rally against the isolation of the Internet in Moscow, 15.2 thousand people passed through metal detectors. According to White Counter activists, at 15:30 the police blocked the entry gates.

The Moscow police estimated the number of participants at 6.5 thousand people, Interfax writes.

According to a Meduza correspondent from the scene, long lines of people stood in front of the metal detectors after the rally had begun. Those wishing to get to the action had to stand in line for 20-30 minutes.

  • The State Duma is now considering a bill on the autonomous operation of the Russian segment of the Internet. The document provides for the creation of an infrastructure that will allow the Russian segment to work in isolation. The authors attribute the need for this to “external threats.”
