An Ethiopian Airlines plane bound for Nairobi crashed on Sunday morning. There were 149 passengers and eight crew members on board, a spokesman for the airline told Reuters .
The Ethiopian government has already expressed condolences to the families of the victims.
"The Prime Minister's Office, on behalf of the government and people of Ethiopia, would like to express our deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their loved ones on an Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737," the Prime Minister's office tweeted.
BBC clarifies that the plane took off from Addis Ababa, the crash occurred shortly after takeoff.
