S7 suspends Boeing 737 Max flights

S7 Airlines will suspend flights on Boeing-737 Max from March 13 until more information about the causes of the Ethiopian Airlines plane crash is received.

This decision will not affect the regularity of flights: flights will be carried out as usual, S7 noted, Interfax reports . The S7 Airlines fleet consists of 96 aircraft, including two Boeing-737 Max. S7 Airlines is the only operator of this aircraft in Russia.

Previously, Australia, Singapore, China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Oman, Turkey refused to use the Boeing-737 Max. The United States demanded that Boeing update the software. The ban on flights for aircraft of this type was introduced by the Aviation Safety Agency of the European Union.

An Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 MAX 8 flying from Addis Ababa to Nairobi crashed on March 10. In late October 2018, Indonesian Lion Air's Boeing-737 MAX 8 crashed into the Java Sea shortly after taking off from Jakarta Airport.
