According to TASS with reference to the theater’s press service, the Belgian choreographer Yerun Verbryuggen was invited to staging the performance, who used to work in the ballet of Monte Carlo and with the Great Theater of Geneva, where he put a “click” without traditional Christmas elements.
“I believe that from the new generation of modern choreographers he is one of the most interesting at the moment. His performances are very theatrical, dance and risky, ”says Elena Tupiseva, director of the Ballet Moscow Theater.
The performance “Dancing floor”, explained in the theater’s press service, refers to the dance marathons of the 1920s, which took place in the United States during the great depression and went down in history as the most frantic: often their participants died from exhaustion right during the competition.
“I wanted to do something about the dance. Everyone is dancing - whether they are ballet or nightclubs, or ritual dances. I liked the idea that dance is a medicine, but at the same time it can destroy you if you do not stop. The dance can be something beautiful and something gloomy at the same time, ”the press service of the word Yerun Verbryuggen quoted.
The “dance floor” artist Dmitry Razumov also work on the “all shades of blue” in Satyricono, “living paintings” in the theater of nations, “Woe from Wit” at the Moscow Art Theater School) and Swedish composer Stefan Levin, in the works of which, along with acoustic instruments, electronics are used.
