
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sweden demanded to withdraw from the country the Russian diplomat, whom the Swedish authorities suspect of espionage. This was reported by the Dagens Nyheter newspaper with reference to the source. The Foreign Ministry called Russia's ambassador in Stockholm Viktor Tatarintsev. He was demanded to voluntarily send from Sweden a subordinate suspect of espionage. The representative of the Swedish Foreign Ministry Patrick Nilsson confirmed that the Russian ambassador was called due to the activities of one of the diplomats.
Earlier it was reported that on February 26, the security police detained the suspect in illegal intelligence in Stockholm. His name is not revealed.
According to preliminary data, the detainee was recruited by an agent of Russian intelligence, who worked under a diplomatic cover. In Sweden, the suspect was engaged in information technologies that are of interest to foreign intelligence. In Stockholm, it is not excluded that he began his activities in 2017.
