Deripaska sues US authorities

Businessman Oleg Deripaska filed a lawsuit against the US Treasury and its head, Steven Mnuchin, in the District of Columbia court demanding that the sanctions imposed against him be lifted.

In the lawsuit, Deripaska calls himself a victim of political infighting and backlash against Russia's alleged interference in the US presidential election.

Deripaska insists that due to the actions of the US Treasury, the damage was 7.5 billion dollars.

• In January 2019, the US Treasury lifted the sanctions imposed in April 2018 on Deripaska's En+ group and its subsidiaries Rusal and Eurosibenergo. The sanctions were lifted after the share of the Russian businessman in the companies was reduced.
