The court extended the house arrest of Open Russia activist Anastasia Shevchenko for three months.

The Leninsky District Court of Rostov-on-Don extended the house arrest of Open Russia activist Anastasia Shevchenko for another three months, accused under a criminal article on participation in the activities of an undesirable organization. This was reported on Twitter by the Open Russia Team.

Shevchenko will remain under arrest until July 17. The court sided with the investigator, who advocated an extension of the arrest, explaining this by the gravity of Shevchenko's crime and the fact that she could hide in the Baltic states. In her defense, the activist noted that all her accounts were blocked, her children did not have visas, and her passport was confiscated from her.

The defense side also requested that the activist be allowed to accompany the children to school, as well as make phone calls to doctors and others. Shevchenko expressed concern that due to the ban on calls, she would not be able to get through to her sick mother in case of an unforeseen situation. The court rejected all motions submitted by the defence.

A woman at the trial spoke about the unreasonable attention of the investigator during a trip to her dying daughter. “When I was released to the intensive care unit to see my daughter, whose heart had stopped, the investigator called several times to find out if we had turned towards Ukraine. I don’t know who you take me for, but I wouldn’t hide even if I had the opportunity, ”Team Postcards quotes Shevchenko as saying.

Valentina Dekhtyarenko, coordinator of the Human Rights Defenders of the Postcard , said on her Twitter that in front of the court building, RIA FAN employees handed out “accusatory” leaflets about Anastasia Shevchenko to listeners.
