In St. Petersburg, the police detained activists of the Solidarity movement and the movement of the unlimited protest, who conducted pickets on Nevsky Prospekt with a demand to free the Chechen human rights activist Oyub Titiev. This was reported by the Radio Liberty correspondent.

After the picket in support of the human rights activist, activists were preparing to hold the action in support of the Crimean Tatars. They were going to recall the five-year anniversary of the abduction and murder of the decision of Ametov, as well as the fate in the prison of the Crimean Tatar activist Eden Bekirov, who is now in very serious condition.

The police took the posters in support of Ametov and Bekirov, and the picket participants were allegedly detained on the complaint of unknown citizens. Asana Mumji, Elena Grigoryeva, Roman Samoilova, Olga Smirnova, Marina Ken, Ilya Tkachenko, Evgeny Musina and Dmitry Nekidina were taken to the police department No. 78.

Asana Mumji was detained for putting the urn on the street and offered a passer -by vote to decide who belongs to the Crimea. The activist is charged with a unauthorized occupation of the land.

On Monday, the Shalinsky City Court of Chechnya sentenced the head of the Grozny branch of the human rights center "Memorial" Oyub Titiev by four years in prison in a penal colony. The human rights activist was found guilty of drug storage.

Edem Bekirov was detained on December 12 last year on the border of Crimea and the Kherson region of Ukraine. Bekirov is charged with illegal storage and transfer of weapons. The maximum punishment for these crimes is up to 5 years in prison.

Bekirov is a disabled person of the first group and is sick with diabetes. According to his lawyers, there is no constant medical care in the pre -trial detention center he needs. Bekirov’s cellmate said that the Crimean Tatar activist "dies before his eyes."

Lawyers and the Bekirov family call the accusations absurd , they associate criminal prosecution with the social activities of the activist.
