The Franezensky District Court of Yaroslavl extended for 3 months the arrest of five employees of the Yaroslavl correctional colonies No. 1 and No. 8 in the case of torture over prisoners, the Public Verdict Foundation said .
The arrest was extended by the employees of the FSIN Sipan Mamoyan, Alexei Brovkin, Ruslan Tsvetkov, Sardor Ziyabov and Dmitry Nikitenko. The Yaroslavl courts previously left nine another FSIN employees in the pre-trial detention center, and also extended house arrest for the former chief of the IK-1 Dmitry Nikolaev and his two deputies. The rest of the defendants in the case also asked them to transfer them to the recognizance not to leave or house arrest, but their petitions were rejected.
At the moment, seventeen accused, and the victims in the case, in addition to the hero of the “torture video” of Yevgeny Makarov, were recognized by four more prisoners. The case was referred to the central apparatus of the Investigative Committee, the investigator at the meeting on March 19 said that the agency intends to attach even more than 120 episodes of torture over the prisoners who are now in the investigation.

Recall that the case of torture on prisoners in the Yaroslavl IK-1, as well as IK-8, was excited after the publication in the “new” video recording of the beating of convicted Evgeny Makarov, which was obtained by the lawyers of the “public verdict”.
A month later, other testimonies of torture in the Yaroslavl IK-1 appeared : the video, presumably made at the end of 2016, the same colony officers who tortured Makarov forced the prisoners to run along the corridor and beat them with their hands and batons.
In March, Novaya Gazeta published two more fragments from the cameras of DVR officers of the colony, on which in February 2017 the beaten prisoner Pavel W. was forced to smoke a cigarette after another convicted with the words: “We are forty, and you are one.” The FSIN reported that they transferred the materials of the internal audit to the investigating authorities.
