In Yakutsk, two more people were arrested in the case of abduction and rape of a woman.

The Yakut City Court arrested two men who were suspected of illegally depriving a local resident of her liberty by a group of persons by prior conspiracy (clause “a” of Part 2 of Article 127 of the Criminal Code), court spokeswoman Varvara Sleptsova told RIA Novosti.

“In the Yakutsk City Court, hearings were held on measures of restraint for two men, according to investigators, who took part in the illegal imprisonment of a resident of Yakutsk. They were taken into custody for the duration of the additional investigation until May 17,” Sleptsova said.

The third person involved in the case, who is accused of kidnapping (Article 126 of the Criminal Code) and rape (Part 1 of Article 131 of the Criminal Code), was arrested on March 18.

The day before, a spontaneous rally against migrants took place in Yakutsk , as messages were spread on social networks that three migrants from Kyrgyzstan were involved in the attack on the woman. From 100 to 200 people attended the rally.

After about 90 buses did not return to their routes, several vegetable stalls suspended operations after the pogroms. According to the head of the Kyrgyz diaspora, Zhazbek Bikbaliev, the majority of Kyrgyz living in Yakutia still do not go to work and do not send their children to school.

The head of the region held a meeting with local residents, promised to punish those responsible and called not to carry out lynchings against migrants. The representative of the Kyrgyz delegation that came to Yakutia, on behalf of the entire people, offered “sincere and deep apologies to the victim, her family, and all residents of the city of Yakutsk and Yakutia as a whole.”

In addition, police detained and arrested local residents who were allegedly involved in the pogroms of vegetable stalls. A man who distributed messages calling for people to go to a rally was fined 20 thousand rubles.
