A resident of Nizhny Tagil committed suicide in a pre-trial detention center the day after his arrest, reports RIA Novosti . Relatives believe that pressure was exerted on the arrested man, but the FSIN responded to this by saying that relatives refused to accept the man into their apartment in order to place him under house arrest.
“From the court materials, it appears that house arrest was considered as a preventive measure, but the relatives, in whose living space he wanted to live, refused to accept it. He was in the isolation ward for just a day,” said Alexander Levchenko, head of the press service of the Sverdlovsk regional department of the Federal Penitentiary Service.
He added that there are no signs of violent death on the body of the deceased. The Investigative Committee began a pre-investigation check.
As Znak.com clarifies , 26-year-old Viktor Melnik committed suicide a day after he was taken to pre-trial detention center No. 3 from police department No. 16. “To put it bluntly, this is pure suicide. Now, for some reason, relatives are trying to raise this topic. But they don’t talk about the fact that one of them, during the hearings on the measures of suppression in court, was against this person being placed under house arrest,” told Levchenko Znak.com .
According to the All News agency, the deceased is Viktor Melnik, suspected of intentionally causing grievous bodily harm (Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code). He was detained on March 5 for attacking an acquaintance - according to security forces, Melnik wounded him with a knife. And on March 6, the Leninsky District Court of Nizhny Tagil sent the man to a pre-trial detention center.
Melnik’s sister named Ulyana told the agency that she and her mother were informed about her brother’s death the day after the incident, on March 8. Detention center staff said that Melnyk underwent psychological tests, according to which he was depressed and depressed, and also had a fear of closed spaces. According to Ulyana, the deceased had an abrasion on his wrist and hematomas on his head. The girl believes that Melnik received these injuries after his arrest.
“Victor didn’t want to die, he didn’t have any suicidal thoughts,” Ulyana insists. “On the contrary, on March 6 he was supposed to start a new job. I'm sure there was pressure on my brother. The worst thing happened the day after the funeral - police officers began knocking on the mother’s apartment, kicking the door and hitting it with their fists. At the same time, they shouted: “Melnik Viktor Aleksandrovich, we know that you are at home, open up.” Because of their screams, they did not hear my mother’s answer that Victor had died.” After this, the mother of the deceased called an ambulance.
