
The European Commission fined Google for 1.49 billion euros for violation of antimonopoly legislation in the online advertising, the website of the department reported.
“Google has strengthened its dominance in search advertising on the Internet and protects itself from competitive pressure by introducing anti-competitive restrictions on third-party websites. This is illegal in accordance with the EU antimonopoly rules, ”the commissioner Margret Westagger said for competition policy in the field of competition.
According to her, the violation lasted more than 10 years: Google included the provisions on exclusivity since 2006. This meant that publishers were forbidden to place advertisements for competitors on their pages of search results.
Earlier, Roskomnadzor fined Google for 500 thousand rubles for the lack of connection to the register of prohibited information for filtering search results.
