Senator Kerimov was again suspected of tax evasion

Senator Suleiman Kerimov has again become a defendant in a tax evasion case, according to the French newspaper Nice-Matin. According to the publication, he has already been charged, but was released on bail of 20 million euros.

More. At the request of the Ministry of Finance, the Nice prosecutor's office again suspected Kerimov of tax evasion when buying real estate on the Cote d'Azur, the newspaper writes. We are talking about several villas, including Hier, for which the senator allegedly gave 127 million euros, but indicated 35 million euros in the documents.

• A few days ago, the senator was summoned to Nice, where he was charged with complicity in aggravated tax evasion, the prosecutor of Nice, Jean-Michel Pratre, confirmed to RIA Novosti. Karimov was released on bail of 20 million euros.
• The Bell source from Kerimov's entourage also confirmed that new claims were made against the billionaire. There are no new facts, he will dispute it, just like last time, he said.

Context. In 2017-2018, Kerimov was already accused in the same case. The investigation believed that he did not pay taxes on 400 million euros after the illegal purchase of five villas on the Cote d'Azur. In January 2018, the French authorities allowed Kerimov to go to Moscow for a few days - according to Dozhd , Vladimir Putin personally asked for this. The senator needed this trip in order to collect evidence of his defense. In June 2018, the French authorities dropped all charges against Karimov.
