Damage from corruption in the military sphere in 2018 exceeded 7 billion rubles

Damage from corruption crimes in the military sector has quadrupled over the past year. This was stated by the chief military prosecutor Valery Petrov, reports . RIA Novosti

In his opinion, corruption is "largely the root of most problems in the state of the rule of law." Petrov noted that during the year more than 2.8 thousand officials were brought to disciplinary responsibility, 28 of them were dismissed due to loss of confidence.

“Given that the number of crimes in this category is not decreasing, and the amount of damage caused by them has quadrupled and exceeded 7 billion rubles, it is necessary to step up measures to curb such manifestations as part of the national anti-corruption plan,” he said.

At the end of 2018, Russian Prosecutor General Yuri Chaika, in an interview with Kommersant, said that the material damage from corruption crimes in the first nine months of last year amounted to 46 billion rubles. According to him, the share of crimes related to corruption, among all others, is 1.7%, and the share of material damage from them is 11%.
