Police in Tula detained Communist Party activists because of leaflets against garbage reform

Police officers in Tula detained several Communist Party activists who were going to hand out leaflets against the waste reform and landfills. This was reported to OVD-Info in the Tula regional committee of the party.

According to the interlocutor of OVD-Info, the police were on duty for some time near the building of the regional committee of the Communist Party of Tula. When the activists went outside and got into a minibus to go to the city to distribute leaflets, several police cars blocked the road.

After that, police officers in uniform and in civilian clothes confiscated leaflets from the activists and asked them to go with them to the department for identification. The video, which was published on the page of the Tula Communist Party on VKontakte, shows that the activists had their passports with them. In the second recording, a plainclothes police officer seizes the leaflets and states that they will be sent for examination. The seized materials were dedicated to the agreed March 23 rally against landfills.

The regional committee reported that several people were eventually detained. In case of disobedience to the demands of the police, the activists were threatened with the use of physical force. To which department they were delivered is still unknown.

• In Tula, on March 20, the police already detained the secretary of the regional committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation and the editor-in-chief of Tulskaya Pravda, Mikhail Fedorov. He also handed out a leaflet about the upcoming rally.
