In the Russian Emergencies Ministry, two firefighters accused of negligence during extinguishing the Winter Cherry shopping center in Kemerovo in March 2018. The deputy director of the Department of Fire and Rescue Forces of the Ministry of Emergencies, Sergei Sivenkov, called the actions of the head of the guard Sergey Genin and the head of the fire extinguishing service Andrei Bursin "adequate".
Sivenkov informed Interfax that for a year from a fire in the department they carried out a “many analytical work”. According to him, the ministry evaluates their actions in the situation as justified and adequate.
The head of the fire guard Sergei Genin and the head of the fire extinguishing service Andrei Bursin was accused of negligence. According to the investigation, Genin did not listen to an eyewitness who, during a fire, told him to go to the fourth floor as soon as possible, where people were locked. Bursin was accused of the incorrect organization of the Office of the Fire and Rescue Garrison, and that the fire was not carried out properly.
Genin was arrested at the end of March 2018. He did not admit his guilt, saying that he acted according to the instructions. Bursin was detained in July of the same year. Being in a pre -trial detention center, he tried to commit suicide, after which he got into a mental hospital.
The fire in the Winter Cherry shopping center occurred on March 25, 2018. His cause, presumably, was a short circuit. A fire alarm did not work in the building, the evacuation exits were blocked. As a result, 60 people were killed, including 37 children. On the fact of the tragedy, several criminal cases were instituted, 15 people were arrested, including the ex-head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergencies of Kuzbass, Alexander Mamontov.
