The prosecution asked for 21 years in prison for ex-head of Komi Gaizer

During the debate in the Zamoskvoretsky District Court of Moscow, a representative of the state prosecution requested 21 years in prison for the former head of Komi, Vyacheslav Gaizer, TASS reports .

In addition to the term in the colony, the prosecutor asked that the former head of the region be fined in the amount of 500 million rubles and deprived of the right to hold positions in the civil service for five years.

He asked Gaizer's former deputy Alexei Chernov to be sentenced to 20 years of strict regime, the ex-head of Komi Vladimir Torlopov, the head of the company Sovetnik Management Company Natalya Motorinova, the ex-speaker of the State Council of the Republic Igor Kovzel, the ex-head of the Fund for Support of Investment Projects Igor Kudinov, the director of the company " Interproza" Valery Malyarov, ex-director of the company "Agroholding" Sergei Smeshny, general director of the construction company "Innari" Mikhail Khruzin and ex-head of the information department of the government administration of the republic Pavel Marushchak - 17 years old, entrepreneur Valery Veselov - 13 years old, Gaizer's confidant Alexander Tretyakov and Zarubin's secretary Lev Libenzon - eight years each.

“All the defendants had the same motive - self-interest. The defendants were far from poor people. All of them considered the Komi Republic as a trading platform and a resource to meet their needs,” RIA Novosti quotes the prosecutor’s speech in the debate.

The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case against Gaiser in September 2015. He is accused under articles 210 (creation of a criminal community), 159 (fraud), points “a”, “b” of part 4 of article 174.1 (laundering of funds obtained from crime) and part 6 of article 290 of the Criminal Code (receiving a bribe on an especially large scale ).

According to investigators, Gaiser, who led the region for five years, and other high-ranking officials were part of an organized criminal group engaged in the illegal withdrawal of funds from profitable Komi enterprises in their own favor with the help of the Investment Projects Fund. The damage in the largest episode involving the theft of shares in the Zelenetskaya Poultry Farm company amounted to 2.4 billion rubles.

During the investigation, Gaiser was placed in a pre-trial detention center. He made a deal with the investigation, within the framework of which he testified against the ex-head of Beeline Mikhail Slobodin and other defendants. According to Forbes, in exchange he was promised a sentence of no more than 15 years. In August 2016, one of the defendants in the Gaiser case, general director of the Komizhilstroy company Anton Faershtein, committed suicide.

Gaiser's case went to trial in November 2017. In May 2018, Mediazona published a transcript of audio recordings, the author of which introduced himself as the person involved in the case, Demyan Moskvin, who received six years in a maximum security colony despite testimony incriminating other accomplices - in the recording, a person with the voice of a senior investigator for especially important cases under the chairman of the Investigative Committee, Nikolai Tutevich, explained financier, what and how to say in court.
