The Moscow District Military Court at an off-site session in the Pskov Regional Court is considering a case on justifying terrorism (Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code) against Arkady Markov, a deputy from the settlement of Ostrov. He is being tried because of the publication on VKontakte and on the cont.ws website of an excerpt from the TV series Igra.Revansh shown by NTV. It is reported by Mediazona.
The prosecutor requested six years in a penal colony for Markov. The defendant petitioned for the termination of the criminal case due to the absence of corpus delicti in his actions. He denies his guilt.
Markov is a municipal deputy from A Just Russia, who considers himself a citizen of the USSR “by birth and by law” and is convinced that the Russian Federation de jure does not exist. The FSB believes that Markov wanted to forcibly change the state system and return to the Constitution of the USSR.
According to investigators, he published an excerpt from the series "Game. Revenge" on VKontakte and on the cont.ws website and wrote comments on them in which he publicly justified terrorism and called for it.
Then the deputy in his office showed a scene from the series to a friend. According to Mediazona , this moment was recorded by a hidden video camera installed by FSB operatives who were monitoring the deputy.
In an excerpt from the series, which was shown by NTV in 2016, the main character, former FSB officer Alexander Belov, shot dead FSB colonel Artur Mednik because he allegedly violated the Soviet oath. "Mediazona" notes that the scene is taken out of context and in the series the murder is not committed because of a violation of the oath.
At the same time, the expertise of the employees of the Moscow State Linguistic University proved that the main meaning of the publication is “the restoration of the validity of the Constitution of the USSR through the use of violence.”
“The experts, together with the program for the phonosemantic analysis of the text “Vaal”, analyzed the behavior of the character of the series - Belov - and noted his threatening gestures, the impassive expression that he gives to his face in an attempt to hide his anger, and his gaze. The text of the dialogue between Belov and Mednik, according to the program, “makes the impression of EVIL” (original capslock),” Mediazona writes.
A criminal case against the deputy was opened in March 2017, but a year later it was closed due to lack of corpus delicti. The prosecutor's office canceled the decision to dismiss the case, as a result, Markov was accused of inciting terrorism (Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
