In the Magadan region there is no vaccine against rabies, the mayor of Magadan Yuri Grishan said during a briefing, the press service of the city administration reports on March 26. There is no money to buy a vaccine.
According to Grishan, information about the absence of a vaccine in the region was heard at a meeting of the sanitary anti -epidemic commission, where the issue of rabies was considered. According to the press service, the reason for this is the lack of money.
“I want to say that this is unacceptable. I, as the head of the city, are obliged to protect the legal rights and interests of the residents of the regional center, regardless of authority. Immediately a decision should be made and an antivirus vaccine against rabies was purchased. It should be in the medical institutions of the city and the region in order to avoid accidents, and such cases may be,” Grishan said.
He also spoke about the problem with the financing of catch, transportation and maintenance of stray dogs. According to him, before March 5, 2.2 million rubles were supposed to receive, designed to pay for this work in 2019, but there is no money. Therefore, the contractor - the company "The right to life" does not receive money for the work performed.
According to the mayor, to solve the problem with hopeless dogs, an amount of at least four times more and new places in the shelter are required. The company "Right to Life" cannot increase places in the existing shelter. In this regard, Grishan believes, the regional Ministry of Construction, Housing and Public Utilities and Energy should contact the City Hall for the allocation of a land plot for a new shelter, build it and transfer it to the municipality.
