Mikhail Abyzov was arrested for two months

The Basmanny Court of Moscow arrested ex-Minister Mikhail Abyzov for two months. The investigation motivated its decision by the fact that Abyzov could hide, and on March 27 he was going to fly to Belgrade. The judge found no reason to consider the charges brought against Abyzov as violations related to business activities.

Pledge and guarantors. Lawyers asked the court to release former Minister for Open Government Affairs Mikhail Abyzov on bail of 1 billion rubles or place him under house arrest. The pledge was ready to be made by the chairman of the board of directors of Aeon Corporation, the owner of the Novaport airport holding and the Federation Tower, Roman Trotsenko.

• Abyzov's lawyer Alexander Asnis insisted that it was a corporate conflict that was resolved with the help of law enforcement agencies, and referred to Putin's instructions not to put pressure on business.

What Abyzov himself said. Before the court retired to make a decision, Abyzov himself took the floor. “Yesterday I started a new stage in my life, a new coordinate system,” he said. He noted that while it is unusual for him in court, "I do not navigate." He thanked friends and family, as well as guarantors.

Abyzov pleaded not guilty, but said he was ready to cooperate with the investigation. “We have the same goal with the investigation - to establish the truth during the investigation and trial. I will do my best to assist the investigation in order to determine the true circumstances of the criminal case.”
