Former Minister of Open Government Affairs Mikhail Abyzov, accused of creating a criminal community and fraud on an especially large scale, is in the same cell with a murder suspect, as well as with a previous conviction. this TASS reports with reference to the Secretary of the Public Monitoring Commission (POC) Ivan Melnikov. According to him, this is a violation because those who have not been convicted and those who have been convicted should be kept separately.

Abyzov himself says that during the arrest, law enforcement agencies did not use physical force against him and communicated with him correctly, Melnikov notes. “No, the guys are normal, there were no insults or anything. Correctly, respectfully and efficiently,” Moskovsky Komsomolets quotes Abyzov.

On Tuesday, March 26, Abyzov was detained in Moscow and charged under Part 3 of Art. 210 (creation of a criminal community using official position) and under Part 4 of Art. 159 (fraud on an especially large scale) of the Criminal Code. According to the investigation, from April 2011 to November 2014, the former minister was the beneficiary of offshore companies and headed a criminal community. Abyzov does not admit his guilt. On Wednesday, March 27, the Basmanny Court of Moscow will choose a preventive measure for the former minister.

Abyzov in January 2012 took up the post of adviser to President Dmitry Medvedev on open government affairs. In May of that year, he moved to the post of Minister for Open Government in the new cabinet. Abyzov worked in this post for six years.
