It took law enforcement agencies for more than a month to deliver 11 suspects and 127 volumes of criminal case materials to St. Petersburg. At the first meeting on April 2, journalists had the impression that Moscow judges did not intend to delay the process. Almost all lawyers who entered into the case instead of the defenders provided by the state were denied the materials. “Agree in breaks,” said Judge Andrei Morozov, chairing the collegium.
As follows from the indictment, all the defendants were connected with a certain Sirozhiddin Mukhtarov, known as Abu Salah. He is not in the bench of the defendants, according to investigators, he is now in the vicinity of Aleppo, where, together with a citizen of Uzbekisatan, Bobirzhon Makhbubov (call sign Ahmed) was preparing from the 22-year-old Akbarzhon Dzalilov suicide bomber for the glory of Islam.
According to the investigation, the defendants communicated with Makhtarov and Makhbubov through the Telegram messenger. Recruitment to the ranks of the terrorist organization, apparently, also went through the Internet, because, except for Dzalilov, almost none of the defendants were abroad.

Terrorist attack
The explosion in the St. Petersburg metro thundered on April 3, 2017 at 14:33. A homemade bomb on the stage between the Sennaya Square and Technological Institute stations was acted by Akbarzhon Dzalilov, a 22-year-old suicide bomber. The train driver Alexander Kaverin was able to bring the damaged composition to the Technological Institute station, where assistance was provided to the wounded.According to the Ministry of Emergencies and the Ministry of Health, 11 people were killed during the explosion, including the suicide bomber. Another victim died when transporting to the hospital, two more died immediately upon arrival at the hospital. On April 12 and 21, two more died from the wounds. Thus, the number of dead reached 16 people. In total, 89 people turned for help. 51 of them was hospitalized.
On the same day, it turned out that explosions were planned not one, but two at the same time. Another bomb (three times more powerful than the one that Dzhalilov blew up), disguised as a fire extinguisher, was discovered by the inspector's inspector station Albert Siberian at about 13:50. A surface examination of the bomb revealed that it is driven by calling the cell phone.

The mother of one of the defendants, Mahamadyusuf Mirzaalimov, asks journalists not to call her son a terrorist. “He simply ended up in the wrong place and at the wrong time,” she says.
The place where the majority of the defendants turned out to be “not at that time”, the investigation defined as a Lesnoy cafe in the Odintsovo district of the Moscow region, where in the period from December 2016 to March 2017 he worked as a cook Dzalilov. Another such place was in the apartment on the friendly Avenue, 22/1, in St. Petersburg. Here, during the arrest of suspects on April 5, 2017, FSB officers discovered elements of an explosive device. It was at this address, as follows from the prosecution, that Jalilov and five defendants lived.
According to investigators, the Azimov brothers were the Abu Salah agents in Russia - money was transferred through them to purchase components for an explosive device.
Usually the defendants are not eager to communicate with the press, but in this case it was quite the opposite: at a court session, both brothers petitioned for their testimonies with the participation of television channels.

“We are ready to tell how we ended up in this matter and how we knocked out the readings, we are just random Muslims, there is no other fault on us,” the Azimovs said. Judge Morozov refused in the video shooting, saying that it would be possible to remove only the announcement of the sentence.
All the defendants refused to admit their guilt in terrorist activities. Member of the Public Supervisory Commission (PMC) Yana Teplitskaya, in a conversation with the correspondent of “New in St. Petersburg”, said that, according to her information, torture was applied to the defendants, but the traces of beatings were not officially recorded ( the use of violence, according to Teplitskaya, was told by the Muhamadyusup and Ibrahim Ermatova members . - Ed. ). The members of the PMC promised to make more similar information to publish in the near future.
The lawyers of the defendants also say that their customers are ordinary people who accidentally fell under the investigation rink.
“He does not plead guilty,” Ketevan Baramia, defender of Ibrahim Ermatov, confirmed the new in St. Petersburg. - It is unfortunate that the court refused to video shooting. The Office of the Office tell how they ended up in this matter. ”

However, a feeling of chance of the FSB chosen participants in a terrorist conspiracy was created not only by lawyers.
“Honestly, they are not very similar to terrorists,” says one of the victims in the attack, Yuri Shushkevich. -Especially this woman ( Shokhista Karimova, she is charged with aiding in terrorist activities, expressed in the purchase of SIM cards for mobile phones and storing the F-1 grenade, which, according to the defendant, was thrown by the FSB operatives. - Ed. ). In appearance, they are all ordinary men, although how can I know what terrorists look like? ”
