The first of April for Ingushetia turned out to be a completely serious day. After the rally in Magas on March 26 and 27 and the news came after them for several days of silence, the news fell one after another.

The organizers of the protest in Magas were called for interrogation, so far as witnesses. Recall, on March 26 in Magas, a rally was held against amendments to the republican law on referendum, initiated by the head of Yunus-Buck Evkurov. In the course of the procedure for amendments to the parliament, it turned out that a significant paragraph “accidentally fell” from the text of the law, without which the authorities of the republic could change the administrative boundaries of Ingushetia without asking for the opinion of the people. The land issue in the tiny republic is acute. And the Ingush still has not come to their senses after the culuar -establishment of the border with Chechnya, which happened with the participation of the heads of neighboring republics - Evkurov and Kadyrov - back in October last year. Upon learning of the assertion of the border in fact, the population then went out into the streets. The spontaneous rally lasted two weeks, no one dispersed it. People tried to challenge the border in the courts, but the Constitutional Court of Russia took the side of officials. The rallies stopped, but people have a feeling of resentment.

Therefore, this time, even the readiness of the head of Yevkurov to discuss the law on the referendum did not lead to anything. On March 26, the people again went to the square in Magas, peremptorily demanding the resignation of the head of the republic and the government. According to various estimates, the number of protesters totaled from 4 to 40 thousand people. The rally, agreed by the authorities for one day, spontaneously lasted all night and the next day, on the morning of March 27, flowing into collisions with employees of the Russian Guard who arrived from the Stavropol Territory.

The security forces tried to oust people from the square, in response, the protesters threw bottles, metal fences, sticks, chairs in them.

The Russian Guards did not particularly resist, hiding behind their iron shields. As a result, under the hooting of the crowd, they were supplanted from the square. Some of the employees of the local battalion of the patrol service were completely refused to participate in the overclocking attempts. All these events are captured on dozens of mobile phone videos. They are now being studied by investigators.

Protesters left the area only after the promise of the authorities within five days to coordinate the following protests. However, the events did not end there. The youth group for several hours blocked the federal highway in the Nazran area all with the same requirements. And on the night of March 28, a spontaneous protest rake was held in the republic. After these events, the authorities refused to conduct subsequent rallies, but in a public field they still retained peaceful rhetoric. “We remind parents and elders to prevent the participation of children in illegal actions, entailing responsibility up to criminal,” the Republican Security Council of Ingushetia addressed the residents with this statement.

However, the protracted seething in Ingushetia obviously ceased to arrange a federal center. On March 28, additional units of the security forces were pulled into the republic.
