The court arrested the mayor of Yevpatoria Andrey Filonov

The court in Simferopol arrested the head of the administration of Evpatoria Andrey Filonov for 2 months. It is reported by RIA Novosti. Thus, Filonov will remain under arrest until May 31.

Filonov was detained the day before in a case of abuse of power with infliction of grave consequences (part 3 of article 286 of the Criminal Code). According to investigators, at the direction of Filonov, officials changed the type of permitted use of about 14 hectares of land owned by the city, which they then rented out at a reduced cost. The damage was estimated at 35 million rubles.

Later it became known that was opened a second criminal case against the head of the city under a similar article - Part 3 of Art. 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The judge said that both cases were merged into one proceeding.

Andrey Filonov has been the head of the city administration since November 2014.
