14-year-old Joao Mendes, son of former Brazilian national team player Ronaldinho, has signed a contract with the Cruzeiro club. The promising football player’s agreement with the team is for six years. For the foreseeable future, Mendes will play for Cruzeiro's youth teams.
It is emphasized that Ronaldinho Jr. successfully passed the trial at the club, without disclosing that he is the son of the 2005 Ballon d'Or winner .
“He has interesting characteristics. I am sure that in the near future we will integrate him into our professional team,” Cruzeiro youth team director Amarildo Ribeiro quotes Mundo Deportivo as saying.
Ronaldinho, 39, retired from football in January 2018. In his best years, he played for Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona, with whom he won the Champions League, and Milan. In 2002, Ronaldinho won the world championship as part of the Brazilian national team.
