The United States considers the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps a foreign terrorist organization. This was announced by US President Donald Trump.
According to Trump, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps is on the appropriate list of terrorist organizations.
- U.S. citizens, companies, and government agencies are prohibited from engaging in any way with designated terrorist organizations and their associated individuals or companies. The assets of the members of this list in US banks should be frozen.
- Previously, the United States imposed personal sanctions on individuals and legal entities associated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, however, restrictive measures were not previously applied to the organization itself.
- The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps is officially considered part of the Iranian armed forces, and its commander-in-chief is Ayatollah Khamenei.
