Trump Fires US Secret Service Chief

US President Donald Trump has ordered the dismissal of US Secret Service Director Randolph Alles, CNN reports.

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said the official resignation would take place "soon." The new Secret Service chief will be career agent James Murray.

According to NBC News, the decision to fire Alles was made about two weeks ago, even before the incident in Florida on March 30, when a Chinese citizen was able to freely enter a closed reception at Trump's estate.

• On April 7, Trump announced the resignation of U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen. The Secret Service is part of the Department of Homeland Security.
