The Investigative Committee resumed the investigation of criminal cases against the Oryol poet Alexander Byvshev

In the Orel region, the Investigative Committee resumed the investigation of criminal cases against the poet Alexander Byvshev. Byvshev himself told Novaya Gazeta about this.

“My poems, as well as the book Bloody Memory, were sent for another examination to Moscow and Orel,” he said.

According to Byvshev, on March 27 he received a copy of the decision to dismiss criminal cases under Part 1 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code (inciting hatred or enmity) and Part 2 of Article 280 of the Criminal Code (calls for extremist activity).

However, on the morning of April 8, the head of the Kromsky inter-district investigative committee informed Byvshev about the resumption of the investigation against him.

Earlier, the Tula forensic laboratory of the Ministry of Justice did not find calls for extremism in the collection "Bloody Memory" and the poem "Dedicated to the expansion of NATO to the east." Experts in Orel and Moscow came to a similar opinion.

The case of incitement to extremist activity (part 2 of article 280 of the Criminal Code) against Byvshev was opened in early August last year, later it became known that the case was supplemented with a new episode about the book of poems about the Second World War "Bloody Memory" published in the USA in 2015 .

This was already the sixth criminal case brought against the poet. In 2015, a criminal case was opened against him for publishing two “anti-Russian poems.” Then he was sentenced to 300 hours of corrective labor. In 2017, he became a defendant in a new criminal case for the poem "On the Independence of Ukraine."
