A participant in a protest against the transfer of land to Chechnya was detained in a new criminal case after his release

Abo Dobriev, a participant in a rally against the transfer of land to Chechnya, was detained immediately after his release from custody on a new criminal case. The Caucasian Knot writes about this.

After the rally in Magas, a criminal case was opened against nine detainees for using violence against the police (Article 318 of the Criminal Code), including Dobriev. They were placed in custody. The court gave the police three days to search for evidence in Dobriev’s case. After this time, the court cleared the activist of suspicion. Immediately after this, the activist was detained in another criminal case.

“He was immediately detained on other, more serious charges, in episodes dating back to 2012–2013,” said his lawyer. ​The telegram channel “FortangaORG” writes that the man was detained on suspicion of organizing a criminal community or participating in it (Article 210 of the Criminal Code).

• On March 26, in Magas, local residents held a coordinated rally against the redistribution of borders with Chechnya; its participants demanded the resignation of the head of the republic, Yunus-Bek Yevkurov. After the official end of the action, as reported by the Caucasian Knot, about two thousand protesters remained in the square all night. On the morning of March 27, security forces began to disperse the protesters, and clashes broke out .
