The ECHR awarded Alexei Navalny more than 22 thousand euros for house arrest in the Yves Rocher case

The European Court of Human Rights recognized that keeping Alexei Navalny under house arrest in the Yves Rocher criminal case is a politically motivated deprivation of liberty, and awarded the politician more than 22,000 euros in compensation. This was reported on the website of the court.

The Court saw in the actions of the Russian authorities a violation of the right to liberty and security of person (Article 5 of the European Convention) and the right to freedom of expression (Article 10).

• On December 30, 2014, the brothers Alexei and Oleg Navalny were found guilty of fraud in the Yves Rocher case. Oleg was sentenced to three and a half years in real life, Alexei - to three and a half years on probation.

The investigation believes that the brothers stole more than 26 million rubles from the Yves Rocher Vostok company and more than four million rubles from the Diversified Processing Company. Back in 2013, Yves Rocher submitted a report to the Investigative Committee, according to which the company was not damaged. * In 2017, the ECtHR awarded Navalny 76,000 euros and 450,000 rubles in compensation for the verdict in the Yves Rocher case.
