Analyzes instead of debate

Less two weeks remained until the second round of the elections of the President of Ukraine, which will be held on April 21, 2019. The artistic director of the Kvartal-95 studio Vladimir Zelensky and the current president Petro Poroshenko, who scored 30.24% and 15.95% of the vote, respectively, will compete for the presidential chair.

The vice-president and head of the Ukrainian bureau of the Center for Political Technology Foundation Georgy Lvovich Chizhov told Polit.ru about the most high-profile news of the campaign and what effect they had for the popularity of candidates.

The main theme of the past week was the debate, which were gradually reduced before discussing the test of tests. It was obvious in advance that Zelensky would try to avoid real debate in all ways, because it is very difficult for him to lead them, especially to discuss those topics on which, in fact, to debate. Therefore, he immediately tried to put some conditions before Poroshenko. And, of course, in another situation, Poroshenko would be offended and would not agree to either the stadium or the test of tests. What his associates immediately declared. But since Poroshenko has nothing to lose, he nevertheless agreed.

And here the team of Zelensky began to “squint”. In one day, Zelensky first refused to take tests in the first -aid post of the stadium, to which he himself called Poroshenko, then agreed to take tests only in the clinic of his business partner, Andrei Palchevsky. What he handed over there is completely incomprehensible, because even in his photo he was not taken by a doctor, but by the actor of the “Studio of the Quarter-95”. And when the analyzes were published, as the date of the fence of the material there was the second of April 2018. Although the test took place on April on April 2019.

And then the explanations went, one worse than the other, the nurses explained that they confused something. Nowadays, making such explanations is not very reasonable, because there is an advertising avenue of this clinic immediately, from which it follows that such a mistake is excluded, since nurses do not introduce anything by hand. The actor began to say that he actually studied at a medical school and that for him it was a great honor to make a biomaterial fence from presidential candidate Vladimir Alexandrovich Zelensky. Even if we assume that Zelensky voters are not interested in the results of his tests, in the end he has not yet held an elected position, the problem is that he is trying to show that he is an honest politician of a new type, but in reality he is constantly shouting with his soul.

Zelensky arrived at the test of tests by car, which until 2017 belonged to Kolomoisky personally, and now belongs to the head of one of his businesses. This is a conversation that Zelensky is an independent candidate and Kolomoisky does not affect him. Of course, these "jambs" walking one after another rather lead to the idea that Zelensky was supposed to be sore as a mile of this week. However, there are no fresh sociological data yet, they will apparently appear a little later. Therefore, it is still difficult to say how significant for voters is.

It is obvious that if you monitor the dynamics of a hypothetical separation, it should have been reduced this week. However, the supporters of Poroshenko and those who are not his supporter, but choose him as “less evil”, fears that this may not be enough.

In conclusion, I note that Zelensky finally called the first two people who will be in his team in case of victory. These are former ministers of the government of Poroshenko, Aivarus Abromavichyus and Alexander Danilyuk. In this regard, it can be noted that when Zelensky tries to substantially describe the foundations of his future policy, he agrees in almost everything with Poroshenko. In foreign policy, he actually confirmed all the directions of Poroshenko, and the first two indicated members of his team were also more recently in another team.

All this indirectly confirms that he cannot yet talk about politics. Which, from the point of view of people prone to analytics, proves its security. But does it concern those 30 percent who have already voted for him, and Tymoshenko and Boyko voters who could not stand Poroshenko? It is possible that all this makes a minimal impression on them.

As for the prospects of the debate, I admit that they may not take place in the end. Zelensky showed that no matter how much Poroshenko tried to comply with his conditions, more and more new conditions will appear. It can be assumed that the headquarters of Zelensky believes that the story with analyzes will not cause him significant damage. But all this week the conversation was about tests, and not about the debate. And whether it will be possible to return to the theme of the debate, a big question.

Even Yushchenko and Yanukovych had debates before the third round of elections in 2005. Although this, of course, did not solve anything, it was even believed that Yanukovych performed them well. Nevertheless, there are no obligatory debate in Ukrainian political culture. And now this issue has been updated. Of course, they will no longer change the rules during the campaign, but many say that for the future of the debate it is worth making mandatory.
